The formula, methodology, and limitations
These weights are Pixel Pickles’ editorial choices, not an official Google scoring formula. We use the unrounded category scores and round only the final total.
Freshness Score = round(40 × mobile speed + 25 × search basics + 25 × accessibility + 10 × best practices)
Each category’s raw value runs from 0 to 1. Displayed category scores are rounded to 100. For example, 0.60, 0.80, 0.90, and 1.00 give a Freshness Score of 77/100.
The bands are Fresh Pickle (90–100), Pretty Crisp (75–89), Room to Freshen Up (50–74), and Let’s Freshen Things Up (0–49).
If any category is unavailable, we show partial results and withhold the overall score. An unavailable check is never counted as a pass or replaced with zero.
This checks one public page using a simulated mobile lab test. It does not crawl your website, measure keyword rankings, certify security, or replace an accessibility assessment. Lab metrics are not real-visitor field data or a Core Web Vitals verdict.
Priorities first highlight verified technical or accessibility barriers, then measurable performance opportunities, then other supported improvements. Estimated savings can overlap and are not a guaranteed improvement. Intentional settings may need a human to verify them.
Your offer, photography, and how easy it feels to contact you deserve a human review too. Finding a contact link cannot establish how well a page converts, and an alt attribute cannot establish the usefulness of an image description.
